Future CPU cards

Not wanting to revisit the discussion about the A20 but, instead, think about other processors that might perform better in the comparison table on this page: http://rhombus-tech.net/crowdsupply/ I have no idea if it's even reasonable to discuss these as possible options, so don't all jump on me at once. :-) For example, the i.MX 6UltraLite could be interesting because it doesn't, as far as I can tell, contain a GPU: https://www.nxp.com/iMX6UltraLite I suppose some might think of it as the runt of the i.MX6 litter for that reason. ;-) Some of the other processor families seem to be quite frugal with regards to power consumption, and can still support reasonable display resolutions. Polishing keyboard support

Hi Luke and all, I am polishing a new push for keyboard, mainly adding support for modifiers (ctrl, shift, alt, GUI) -- this makes the keyboard fully useable under any reasonable OS. While I was at it, I ran a full check on my AZERTY keyboard's layout, and found two keys in its matrix which the EC SW maps to 0x00 ('no key') in the current code. Namely: row 1, column 5: keypad "+" row f, column 4: keyboard "DEL" Keypad "+" is present in the SW matrix, but at row 1, column 1 (which on my keyboard maps to no key). Keyboard "DEL" does not seem to be mapped in the SW matrix. Luke, could you check the QWERTY keyboard matrix position for those two keys? I'd like to make sure whether we can use the same SW matrix for both keyboards or whether we need two. Amicalement, -- Albert.

EOMA-68 laptop firmware: support for NUCLEO F072RB added

Hi, I have just pushed support for the NUCLEO F072RB on the eoma firmware repository. You can now build the firmware either for the real PCB2 EC with "make", or for the NUCLEO with "make STM32F072_NUCLEO=1". When built for the NUCLEO, the list of GPIOs used by the firmware is adjusted to the available GPIOs on the NUCLEO. Right now, this means the keyboard matrix uses A13, A14 and A15 instead of A2, A3 (used for UART to the ST-Link) and A5 (used for LED LD2). As a bonus, the user button selects between firmware or DFU on power-up or reset; this removes the need to strap/unstrap the BOOT0 pin. Yes, I'm /that/ lazy. Next on the list: documenting and completing the keyboard matrix (two keys appear missing) and supporting limited AZERTY mode. Amicalement, -- Albert.

The EOMA68-Project, which aims to build a free and ethical laptop has reached 50,000 $ funding, which is 1/3 of its aim. I am surpized, that there is not more support from the Free Software community. I thought Free Hardware (in combination with FRee software) is an urgent need.
